Implementation Services
Comprehensive end to end implementation support across various ERP platforms or homegrown/legacy financial systems, purchasing & billing applications, Ecommerce sites and tax engines. Many of the activities described below are delivered as part of our standard implementation services.
Tax Software Selection
There are many factors that clients typically evaluate during software selection (does it meet our tax requirements, how does it integrate in our IT landscape, etc.). But in our experience the decision typically boils down to two key considerations:
1. How much does it cost?
2. User friendliness (or what do my users prefer from a hands on keyboards perspective?)
Whether it’s in conjunction with broader enterprise initiatives or as stand alone Tax driven projects, we assist clients with a smart and efficient software selection process that is unique to your specific transaction scenarios, reporting requirements, etc.
and ensures you select the right vendor for your business needs and budget considerations. We have excellent long standing relationships with the key tax software vendors and collaborate with them throughout the process to ensure all of your
Business Case Development
Value, specifically the ability to define and clearly articulate that value, is critical to making any tax initiative move beyond the idea phase. All too often, Tax initiatives run into roadblocks when socialized with key business stakeholders and executive leadership because this critical piece is missing.
We have significant experience helping clients move past the idea phase with an efficient and collaborative business case approach. We work with Tax, business and IT to quantify the cost of transformation vs. the potential benefits, often times uncovering previously unknown benefits outside the Tax department. Executive leadership is typically looking for broad acceptance across the organization before committing to any transformation initiative, so we also confirm consensus among those “non-Tax” stakeholders to demonstrate that alignment when presenting to executive leadership.
And in cases where it doesn’t make financial sense to implement a technology solution, we’ll identify that early in the process and provide recommendations for process or data improvements in lieu of transformation.
Tax Business Requirements
Defined generally as “Tax Business Requirements”, this is really the foundation of any tax transformation effort. Our approach is comprehensive and includes the definition and prioritization of key tax relevant business, data and process requirements, including fit gap analysis, solution design and traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
Business Process Design & Process Improvement
An extension of Tax Business Requirements in a sense - as new tax and business requirements are defined, the processes required to deliver solutions that meet those requirements must also be designed and implemented. We collaborate with Tax and the relevant business process stakeholders to ensure alignment between Tax and the broader business on those key business processes (whether they be based on requirements owned by Tax, AP, AR, Finance, etc.)
Tax Data Management
The old adage of “crap in, crap out” couldn’t be more true. Tax departments are typically the largest consumers of data across the organization, yet often don’t have enough input into the process when it comes to the design and maintenance of critical master and transactional data. We have deep experience collaborating across organizations to ensure that the Tax Department gets the tax relevant data required to support tax determination, reporting, audit defense and compliance.
